Since we have alcohol on site (and no food other than snacks), the county actually classifies us as a bar and requires everyone to be 21+.

Regardless of the alcohol, safety is always our #1 priority at Barx Parx. Not all dogs are comfortable around kids, and visa versa. We want to create a low stress environment for everyone involved and limit potential issues as much as possible. There are a ton of options for kids to enjoy with dogs in the community and this is the only one where dogs get free reign OFF leash 🙂

We actually have kids of our own and love watching kids play with dogs. Barx Parx is a 21+ establishment because we are a social experience for dogs and their people. We usually have lots of entertainment options in a highly active environment along with refreshments, including alcohol.

Our number one priority is always to ensure that Barx Parx is a safe place for everyone. While we feel comfortable parenting your pups when they get over stimulated, we don’t feel comfortable parenting your kids. An indoor dog park is a totally new concept for our community (and state). Getting it approved was quite bit of work – getting it approved AND insured while also allowing kids would be nearly impossible for us.

The 21+ experience that we created for you and your four-legged friends at Barx Parx was on purpose and one that we think you will REALLY enjoy!

Barx Parx is a social experience for dogs and their people. Most dogs (and humans) are social creatures however some are not. Most dogs thrive in a safe, active social environment but it isn’t for everyone. We offer a 7 day pass and a 30 day money back guarantee because we want to make sure that we are the perfect fit.

As a social experience, dogs touch, they share water bowls, they interact. As such it is important that they be free from contagious diseases including papilloma, fleas, ticks and other parasites. We do a mandatory body check upon each entry just to double check. You don’t get that at your normal dog park.

All pups that visit must pass a behavior assessment. Behavior assessments are performed by trained staff members and are by appointment only. To schedule a behavior assessment, first register and provide vaccine records. Our staff will manually validate vaccine records within two business days and confirm your registration via email.

Assessments take approximately twenty minutes per dog. Common practice for many day care and boarding facilities is to simply put your dog into the play area with other dogs and see how they do. That sort of “trial by fire” assessment isn’t fair to your dog and doesn’t provide the level of safety that we are committed to offering for our two and four legged guests. At Barx Parx, we understand what safe play means and we are committed to ensure that dogs that we allow into the park are comfortable around both humans and other dogs.

Dogs under 4 months of age are not permitted in the dog park, daycare or boarding because they are still developing their social skills. For dogs under 4 months of age, we highly recommend our puppy socialization class as a way to give supervised brief positive experiences that naturally aid in building a strong social foundation.

All dogs over six months of age are required to be fixed in order to use the indoor dog park. Due to county restrictions for cage and kennel free facilities we cannot make exceptions to this rule.

We require veterinary proof of current Distemper, Rabies, Canine Influenza and Bordetella vaccines. This can be in the form of vaccine records, titer tests or veterinary waivers due to specific health or age concerns.
