Tell us a little about yourself, Buddy!
Hello! My name is Buddy and I am a Double Golden Doodle. Both of my parents are Golden Doodles, so my Puppy Mom says I am extra Doodle-ly – which I take as a compliment.
My puppy parents connected with me on New Year’s Day through a website called puppyspot.com. They had to make it through some serious screening criteria and thankfully passed! The Polar Vortex prevented me from traveling from my hometown in Northern Indiana until February 8. From a sleepy farm to Las Vegas in 24 hours is a lot for a puppy and I arrived tired, hungry, scared and covered in you know what. What an entrance!
We all had a lot to learn but here we are 6 months later, a very happy family!
Who is your favorite human and why?
My favorite human is my Puppy Mom because we have a special bond and ability to communicate with each other. Of course, I love my Puppy Dad a whole lot, because he is so much fun and we can be guys and hang out together. We are really looking forward to football season: the games, the snacks, the naps! He and I take turns in the big recliner!
One other human that I cannot get enough of is Trainer Alice at Barx Parx. I go absolutely cuckoo for her because she is ALICE!
Can you do any special tricks?
That depends on how you define tricks! My special trick is to keep tis family on a schedule: morning walk at 7 am, breakfast at 8 am, dinner at 5:30 pm, evening walk at 7 pm and bed at 10 pm. I let them know with very clear barked instructions when to let me out, when to get my food out of the pantry and when to head to the bedroom. They are pretty well trained at this point. Sometimes I bark to go out for a potty run and they stop what they are doing and jump up to open the door. Then I fake them out with one of my “keep away” games and the next thing is they are playing with me! Works every time!!
I also have to perform PawPatrol every night. I go outside and slowly inspect the perimeter of the yard to ensure we are fully “locked down” for the night. If the weather is nice, I will lay in the grass and look at the stars for a bit! You should try it!
What item (toy, treat, blanket, etc) can you not live without at home?
The one item I am very attached to is probably my stuffed monkey. I have had him for a really long time, and I carry him around and play with him every day. He is looking a bit ragged lately, but I love him. My Puppy mom knows how important he is to me, so she bought a back up monkey, just in case.
Any funny habits or stories that you can share with us?
Oh, so many funny stories, because I am so Doodle-ly! But I will share an interesting story that I wish we had on video!
So, I spied one of my poop bags on a patio table where Mom left it for just a moment before heading to the trash cans. In that moment I snatched it up and started prancing around with my prize. The parents knew I “had something in my mouth” and reacted with their usual panic even before they saw what this was. I surprised them by running into the house and right about then saw what that “something” was. Do you know how crazy humans get when a dog carries a bag of poop into their new house? It was chaos, running, shouting, begging, threatening, bribing. Well, eventually I got bored with this game and gave it up, but it was a hoot! I am waiting a while so they’ll forget and then I will do it again!!
What is your favorite part about Barx Parx?
My favorite part of Barx Parx is the love I get from every Park Ranger and every furry friend there. I can’t wait to go there to play, make new friends, get training and mostly getting the hugs from my Barx Parx family! Actually, I enjoy all the amenities at Barx Parx: sleepovers, baths, parties, treats, photo shoots! I love it all. It’s my family!
What days and times do you normally come to Barx Parx?
We don’t have a set schedule which is OK with me, because I’ll go to Barx Parx anytime. Puppy Mom says “do you want to go to Barx Parx?” and I make a beeline for the garage door! I do notice that if my Puppy Mom has on those funny tight pants it means she is going to Pilates and I will probably pick me up in 2 hours.
Other times she’s all dressed up and has some plans that are not dog related and I will stay for half or a whole day. Works for me! I think I am at BP 3-4 times a week on average. Plus, we stop by for open play a lot, and, I have done one sleepover and hope to have another one real soon. In other words, Barx Parx is just part of our lives and to be honest we could not survive without it!
What’s your life mantra?
That’s an easy question: “Play, Learn and love!”
What are 3 words that best describe your personality?
Happy, Loving, Vibrant!
